Garlic Alfredo Sauce Recipe

Basic Garlic Alfredo Sauce

You will need one stick of butter, two cups of Mozzarella cheese, two cups of milk, two tablespoonfuls of flour, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper to taste.

Heat sauce pan over medium heat. Melt the butter and the add milk and cheese. Gradually add flour while constantly stirring to avoid the flour from clumping. Add a dash of Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper according to taste.

Continually stir mixture until it starts to thicken. Let the sauce stand for about three minutes to allow it to simmer and thicken a bit more. Prepare your pasta as per directions on the package.

Pour sauce over pasta and then serve.

Alfredo Sauce with Roasted Garlic

For this recipe, you will need: one garlic bulb with cloves roasted, one and one-half cups of milk, one-half cup of cream, about one-thirds of an 8-ounce package of cream cheese, three tablespoonfuls of butter, one-half cup of grated Parmesan cheese, one-half teaspoon of dried mustard powder, one tablespoon of cornstarch, salt and pepper to taste.

Place your sauce pan over medium heat and put in your cream cheese, milk and butter. Stir until all ingredients are mixed well together. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch, dry mustard and one-half cup cream.

Add the mixture to the cream cheese and butter mixture. Continually stir until the sauce starts to thicken and bubble. Turn off heat and remove sauce pan from stove.

Crush the roasted garlic and add to the sauce. Add the grated Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper according to your taste. Note that you should crush the roasted garlic only in the amount that you want to add to your sauce.

Let the sauce stand for a few minutes and then pour on your prepared pasta.

Also, you may substitute the roasted garlic with minced garlic if you prefer. You may likewise increase the amount of cornstarch by one-half teaspoon if you want a thicker sauce.

This recipe works great with vegetable salad for a side dish, or your choice of chicken or prawns for a more filling meal.
