Easy Alfredo Sauce Recipe

Pasta Alfredo is a world-renowned dish. It is originally an Italian recipe but through the years spawned into many versions. Now, it is considered as an Italian-American dish, especially with the addition of meats and various types of cheese.

Basically, Alfredo is a cream-based sauce accentuated with the flavorful goodness of butter combined with cream or milk. It can be served with any kind of pasta. But the most popular pasta choice is definitely Fettuccine. Once you hear Alfredo sauce, Fettuccine cannot be far behind.

The basic and very easy Alfredo sauce recipe has been modified with the addition of either chicken chunks, bacon, broccoli, button mushrooms, or any other meat and veggies. That makes this dish filling and a meal on its own. If you want to cook the perfect Pasta Alfredo, it will all depend on how much you know about the base recipe and that’s what we are going to give you in this article. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to make an easy Alfredo sauce recipe:

Step #1: Make a roux. This is a known secret to white pasta sauces. A roux is all about a mixture of butter and flour. In this case, the first thing you need to do is to melt some butter, sauté some garlic, then stir in some flour. Stir the mixture until well blended, not leaving lumps.

Step #2: Add in the cream. You may use heavy cream or whipping cream for this recipe. Stir the mixture frequently over low to medium heat and wait for about 15 to 20 minutes. You will need to see that the mixture thickens but never bring it to a boil. Otherwise, it will scorch.

Step #3: Once the sauce thickens, you may add in the Parmesan cheese. You may use other cheese varieties, depending on the availability as well as your taste. Once the cheese melted, the sauce is ready to be served.

Step #4: Toss in the pasta. Mix it well until the pasta is covered with sauce. Then serve with garlic bread.

As mentioned earlier, you can modify this basic recipe. You can add in well-seasoned and cooked chicken cubes to make Chicken Alfredo. You may also add in blanched broccoli and spinach for a tasty Vegetable Alfredo. You may also add in a mixture of shrimps, clams, and salmon flakes for Seafood Alfredo. You may also use different pasta to create a different dish altogether.

Pasta Alfredo may also be served with a salad.
